  • Introduction & Background
In 1992, the Taiwan Air Force ordered 150 F-16A/B fighter jets from the United States. Type A is a single-seat fighter jet, and Type B is a two-seat combat/trainer aircraft. Among them, 120 Type A aircraft are numbered 6601~6720, and 30 Type B aircraft. The aircraft are numbered 6801~6830. Deliveries began in 1993 and were all delivered by the end of 2000. They are equipped with the 4th Wing (76 aircraft) stationed in Chiayi and the 5th Wing (74 aircraft) in Hualien.
The F-16A/B has been completely retired from the US military, but it is still a relatively advanced light fighter in the world.

The F-16 fighter jet was developed by General Dynamics in the 1970s and formed a high-low match with the F-15 fighter jet. It is still one of the main aircraft types of the U.S. Air Force today. Since 1976, a total of nearly 4,600 aircraft have been produced and sold in nearly 30 countries and regions. It is the largest and most successful third-generation or third-and-a-half-generation fighter jet in the United States.
