- Introduction & Background
KV-2 Heavy Tank (English: KV-2 Heavy Tank). On the eve of World War II, the Soviet Northwest Front Army Command requested that four experimental KV-1 vehicles be equipped with 152mm howitzers. The best designers from KTZ Design Bureau were called together to complete the project. Two weeks later, a new experimental model was designed. Initially the designers decided to install the 152mm mod 1909/1930 howitzer, which was eventually replaced by the more modern 152mm M-10 Model 1938/1940 howitzer. A new, larger turret was also designed to accommodate the heavy gun, which was designated the MT-1. With the official adoption by the military, it was given the name "KV-2", and Soviet soldiers called it "Dreadnought Battleship" (KV s bolshoi bashnei). Equipped with a 152mm howitzer, it has powerful firepower. Its huge body is called "Gigant" by the Germans. Therefore, in World of Tanks Blitz (national server), the legendary paint job of KV2 is called KV2 "Threat". Other servers are called KV2 "machines"
